Where’s the Beach? Contest

Steve added this on January 26, 2012

TargetVacations.ca is a small fish in a big sea of online travel companies. Unlike their competitors, they don’t have the marketing dollars for national broadcast or print campaigns. However, they do have a distinct brand personality and an early-adopting President – the perfect combination for a social media campaign to drive awareness, sales and ultimately, more fans.

We created a simple yet fun contest called ‘Where’s the Beach?’ We built and designed an app embedded in their fanpage where every other week for 16 weeks, we posted an image of a beach and asked their fans to guess the location of the beach. Those who guessed correctly were entered in to win a trip for two to a sunny destination.

When the sand settled, over the 16 week period:

  • Their fanpage numbers grew from 514 fans to 8,106 – a 16x or 1500% increase in fans!
  • Their Twitter followers also grew by 23% (we placed hints exclusively on Twitter)
  • A year-over-year comparison of the 16 week period showed an average sales increase of more than 45% and an average profit increase of more than 18% for TargetVacations.ca

2009 In Review

2009 was a big year for OneMethod. It included a bunch of firsts (mobile apps, generative art, retail design, and even a documentary) and definitely set up a huge 2010. Here are some of our milestones from the year:
