OMnth In Review: June

Posty McPosterson added this on July 10, 2012

We haven’t done a OMnth In Review in a while, but June was just too crazy to let it slip. From new awards and new faces, to new campaigns and new clients, it jumped up a notch last month.

POP-UPS

The biggest story of the month for OneMethod was easily the launch of La Carnita. On Tuesday, June 12th, the taqueria born in our orange office just 11 months earlier popped-up yet again, this time though it would be for good. It was a big night and the place has been packed since. You can follow along the story here but for up-to-the minute intel, follow @la_carnita on Twitter or simply drop by 501 College St.

PRAISES

In terms of hardware, June treated us well. We walked away with one ADCC Award for our La Carnita logo, One Applied Arts Advertising Award for La Carnita as a guerilla event, one Marketing Magazine Award for La Carnita as a campaign, and 6 Summit Awards for a variety of projects including “Best Of Show” for the Nokia X7 website. For more info on our big take at the Summit Awards, click thisaway.

PROJECTS

Beyond awards, there were also some big moves campaign wise around OM. Early in the month we got the green light to tell the world we were awarded the digital/social business for SVEDKA Vodka. It was our first effort with our new Bensimon Byrne family and a huge win. Marketing Mag goes into a little more detail if you were wondering. June also saw us launch the Beck Taxi App, Toronto’s first app for cabs. Pretty much a must for anyone living in Toronto with an iPhone and a tendency to go from one place to another. Free download over here and more info over there.

PEOPLES

As mentioned, our family grew significantly when we merged with Bensimon Byrne. To celebrate, we went on a family trip up to Blue Mountain.

In addition to the 120+ new faces from Bensimon Byrne, we also welcomed a few new talents into the immediate OM fam. Peter Gray and Joey Caughey joined our dev team. Corey Pierce and Vanessa Li joined our design army. And somehow, we convinced DJ P-Plus to put down the vinyl and join our video production unit.

PREMONITIONS

The immediate future should see more moves at La Carnita plus another two restaurants opening up near the office. We’re also planning to get back on the court with Amir Johnson, which should produce some interesting campaigns. And we’re also working on something nice for Toronto’s Nuit Blanche. So stay tuned to here (this site), here (OM Twitter), and here (OM Facebook) for all the latest from OM.
