GenArt is an online experiment that turns the chaos of your social stream into works of art. The site takes user generated content in a new direction by allowing users to create something not only from their thoughts and emotions, but also from their preexisting online presence.

Art can be created from: Twitter feeds, Del.icio.us tags, blogs along with anything the individual wants to provide from scratch. From a technical perspective, the site also achieves some pretty impressive computing while keeping the process super simple.

I think we can all agree that the one problem with art galleries is that they don’t provide absurdly delicious/free tacos. OneMethod capitalized on this gap and created La Carnita Ltd., a pop-up art stand that serves original art and authentic tacos from time to time in downtown Toronto.

The Concept

La Carnita Ltd. creates a limited number of original prints of art and provides those who buy the art with handmade tacos designed by our own Andrew Richmond. Pop-ups occur in various places and consumers are only alerted of the time and place hours before via Twitter. Once that happens, things tend to go nuts.

The Response

Considering the fact that we were only using Twitter, a stripped-down Tumblr page, a short promo video (above), and some old-fashioned grapevine tactics, we really didn’t know what to expect. But week 1 exceeded any and all expectations we might have had. We sold out of 100 prints and 300 tacos in under 45 minutes and were already planning the next step.

Twitter immediately became our primary communication channel as we used the network to crowdsource other artists, venues, chefs, and connect with/appetize a rapidly growing number of followers that were hungry for more delicious artwork. Our second pop-up saw us move over 150 works of art and we ended up trending in Toronto, averaging over one @mention per minute during our 90 minute run.

From there it was simply bigger and better. We continued an active and transparent push on Twitter and continued to grow our connections and following. As for where La Carnita is at today… We were recently named Toronto’s best fish taco, the Globe listed La Carnita one of the top 10 small businesses of 2011, and at our last pop-up we had a 200 person line-up that kicked off with a group of people literally sprinting to be the first recipients of our artwork/taco combination.

To get a better view of the whole La Carnita story, see below or check the tons of photos from each pop-up on our Facebook page (most photos are ones we found online).

A notebook that references a notebook that’s already referencing a notebook is either sheer brilliance or utter stupidity. Either way, this beautifully hand drawn Apple II inspired notebook is more than a pleasure to look at.

Inspired by yesterday. Designed for tomorrow.

During the 09 holiday season, we at OneMethod decided to go beyond the traditional holiday card or s.w.a.g. status gift and provide our clients and friends something original, useful and beautiful. We wanted to give a holiday gift that would spark creativity and encourage a little play into daily routines. We also wanted to show that even our work usually ends up in the digital side of things, we always begin on paper.

Due to popular response, we decided to print extra copies which you can now purchase via PayPal. You can also contact us if you are interested in a bulk order.

Awards and Features

The Thought Processor was recently selected to be in the ADCC’s 2010 Directions award show. We won’t know until October what colour hardware we get to take home, but we’ve bought a can of gold spraypaint just in case we get silver or bronze.

The Thought Processor Notebook has also received love from Under Consideration. So head over to FPO if you want an unbiased review of the book and some more technical specs.

These days, the average child owns more iPhones than baseball cards. And with that exciting/sad/made-up fact in mind, OneMethod created FanApp, which is in some ways the baseball card of this generation but in many more ways, so much more.

The FanApp Platform

These days, the average child owns more iPhones than baseball cards. And while there is something sad about that made up fact, it’s also extremely exciting. FanApp is not only the timely response to that reality, it’s also the best way to keep up with your favourite brand, whatever it may be. It’s the most personal extension of a brand – keeping it in the fan’s back pocket, literally.

Anyone who considers themselves a ‘brand’ is the perfect candidate for the FanApp platform. The FanApp acts as a personal extension of their brand and gets that person (or ‘brand’) into the pockets, purses and bags of their fan base. In addition, as most ‘brands’ out there have many different social media vehicles, the FanApp serves a functional purpose by aggregating the person’s (or ‘brand’s’) social media into one convenient location.

- Brands (e.g. Nike, Roots, Dyson, etc.)

Available FanApps

In the spring of 2009, OneMethod released the Chris Bosh FanApp, CB4: the first iPhone application dedicated to a professional athlete. Since, OneMethod has created apps for Baron Davis and Nick Swisher and is now expanding beyond the sporting world and entering the high-paced world of celebrity.

Last year was a huge year for mobile applications, and OneMethod was quick to get in on the action. Beyond the fun and functional FanApp applications, OM also developed a line of apps that seemed to focus slightly more on the fun side of things. Introducing NerdAlert2000 and LoveDetector2000, both available at the iTunes app store.

NerdAlert2000

After minutes of scientific research conducted by nerds, NerdAlert2000 is finally here.

With the line between nerdy and cool constantly blurring (think Twitter or argyle) identifying nerds is becoming increasingly difficult. As the industry leader in nerd identification technology, NerdAlert2000 lets you identify just how nerdy anyone/thing truly is. And now you can enjoy the free Lite version or the uncensored Full version or both.

Expose your friends’ nerdyness with NerdAlert2000 at the iTunes app store.

LoveDetector2000

Pimpin’ aint easy. Heck, meeting girls aint easy. Until now. Introducing… LoveDetector 2000.

Developed in some Spanish speaking country by 65 of the world’s leading playboys, LoveDetector 2000 is the first device capable of breaking the ice with any woman. Through the use of CDT (connection detection technology), this app measures compatibility and acts as a perfect tool for breaking the ice. From super scary to super model, LoveDetector 2000 focuses on the duty, so you can focus on the… woman.

Start detecting love with LoveDetector2000 at the iTunes app store.

Have you tried a La Carnita taco yet? The good folks at BlogTO have and they’ve decided that La Carnita’s signature pacific cod fish taco is the best in the city. In their recent article pitting the city’s growing taco competition against each other, they list La Carnita as thenumber one fish taco in Toronto. I suppose it’s fitting because we’re not called TwoMethod. Anyways, thanks BlogTO and keep a look out for the next La Carnita event.

For info on the next pop-up, follow @la_carnita on Twitter.
